GeoShot Features

Some of the major features that make the GeoShot system easy to use and reliable are:


  • Completely Testable. The GeoShot™ Tagger acquires information on each hole loaded which can later be downloaded to a PC, information for up to 16,000 detonators can be stored. Specific information about the hole (depth, type of explosive, shot-point from the Tagger table) can be assigned and also include the GPS location and time assigned by the GeoShot™ Tagger.

  • Remote Firing. The GeoShot™ Seismic Interface Unit (SIU) connects the detonator with the firing backpack and automatically converts the high voltage pulse to the correct voltage and coded signal to fire the GeoShot™ detonator.

  • Rugged Reliability. The connectors are all rugged and water resistant. ESD Resistance, RF Resistance, Cable Abrasion & Cutting Resistance all pass CEN TS 13763-27, the European Standards of Compliance for Electronic Detonators.


GeoShot Electronic Initiation System Components

The GeoShot electronic initiation system components are:

  • The GeoShot Electronic Detonator

    The GeoShot™ Electronic Detonator is built on the proven DigiShot™ platform. The Detonator utilises electronic circuitry containing a system-specific, coded, encrypted signal which provides an additional level of security. The detonators are produced with a robust copper over-extruded down-line wire for additional abrasion resistance.

  • The GeoShot™ CE4 Tagger

    A standard GeoShot™ CE4 Tagger is used as an inherently safe tester to test each electronic detonator and log positional information during the loading phase for the GeoShot™ system. The GeoShot™ CE4 Tagger is able to store information for 16 000 detonators.

    The integrity of the detonator, the harness and the connectors can be tested by the Tagger. Poor connections can be isolated and fixed, while faulty connectors can be replaced.  This enables the blaster to ensure electrical functionality of the system and to minimise misfires from the blast. When testing detonators, the unit functions at an inherently safe level.  This means that testing can take place at the blast site without the area being cleared.

  • The Seismic Interface Unit (SIU)

    The SIU enables the firing of single or multiple GeoShot™ detonators using any Seismic Blaster (Capacitive Discharge Device).  The SIU is able to initiate the GeoShot™ detonator over a maximum Firing Line length of 100 metres (300 feet).

    The GeoShot™ SIU implements all the necessary detonator commands to arm and fire the electronic detonator. The GeoShot™ SIU is powered from a 12V lead-acid battery and provides the necessary safety interlocks for an initiation system.

  • External Battery Pack

    The External Battery Pack is used when operating in sub-zero temperatures. The External Battery Pack is an optional extra to increase the capacity of the internal battery.  The Internal Heater Pad can operate with the current polymer battery and will switch ON when the temperature drops below -15°C.

    Heater Pad allows for pre-heating of the GeoShot™ CE4 Tagger before exposing it to a sub-zero environment.  This will extend the time the GeoShot™ CE4 Tagger is useable in the sub-zero environment and it also provides insulation to shield the Tagger from cold temperatures.
