DriftShot Features

Some of the major features that make the DriftShot system easy to use and reliable are:

 

  • Pre-programmed delay  - The period number identifies itself in the detonator string allowing for precise timing and flexibility of inter-hole timing.

  • Auto Tagging – The inherently safe DriftShotTM Tagger will recognise the pre-programmed period in the detonator and its position as they are connected to the harness wire.

  • Simple Templates . Default and customer customisable templates on the BCU allow for inter period delays similar to the long period delays available for non-electric systems. Applying mine wide blast designs ensures better control of results.

 

The DriftShot electronic initiation system components are:

  • The DriftShot Electronic Detonator

    The DriftShot™ Electronic Detonator is built on the proven DigiShot™ platform. The Detonator utilises electronic circuitry containing a system-specific, coded, encrypted signal which provides an additional level of security. The detonators are produced with a robust over-extruded steel down-line wire for added flexibility.

  • The DriftShot™ CE4 Tagger

    A standard DriftShot™ CE4 Tagger is used as an inherently safe tester to test each electronic detonator and log positional information during the loading phase for the DriftShot™ system. The DriftShot™ CE4 Tagger is able to store information for 16 000 detonators.

    The integrity of the detonator, the harness and the connectors can be tested by the Tagger. Poor connections can be isolated and fixed, while faulty connectors can be replaced.  This enables the blaster to ensure electrical functionality of the system and to minimise misfires from the blast. When testing detonators, the unit functions at an inherently safe level.  This means that testing can take place at the blast site without the area being cleared.
