SmartShot Features

The SmartShot electronic detonator is an 8D strength detonator, with a green 4-wire cable and a rugged water-resistant surface connector that’s easily handled while wearing gloves. Connections are simple; the male connector of one unit simply snaps into the female of the next, and so on, along a row. Since SmartShot has the capability to program any time to any detonator from a single point in the string, the user can employ a variety of connection patterns to achieve the desired delay sequence.

  • The SmartShot End Plug

    SmartShot-End-Plug

The End Plug is placed at the end of each string to indicate the end of a string to the control equipment.

  • The SmartShot CE4 Tagger

    SmartShot CE4 Tagger

The SmartShot CE4 Tagger is a user-friendly inherently safe, hand-held unit designed to test individual or a string of detonators, define hole configuration and assign time delays to an individual or a string of detonators. The SmartShot Tagger is menu driven and follows a simple, logical sequence of blast installation, testing and programming.

  • The SmartShot String Starter

    SmartShot-String-Starter

The SmartShot String Starter is placed between the connected blast and the control equipment (Bench Box). It is an interfaces from a 2-wire to a 4-wire communication, as well as serving as an identifier to assist in any fault finding that may be required. Should the system detect any fault (e.g. broken wire, missed connection etc.), it will point to the exact detonator connected to the specific String Starter, thus making fault elimination easy and quick.

  • The SmartShot Connector Block

    SmartShot Connector Block

The SmartShot Connector Block connects to the Bench Box to provide a safe mechanical 2-wire connection to the blast installation. The SmartShot Connection Block consists of 12 channels capable of initiating 2 400 SmartShot detonators.

  • The SmartShot Bench Box

    SmartShot-Bench-Box_New

The SmartShot Bench Box is the receiver unit that allows for remote firing. It is positioned up to 1 000 meters away from the blast at a point of safety. The Bench Box receives the blast command from the Base Station which passes the required voltage and encoded signal to the detonators in order to initiate the blast. The SmartShot Connector block – has 12 terminal sets to attach the surface lead to the SmartShot String Starters, which connect to the 4-wire detonators on the blast. Up to four Bench Boxes can be synchronised on a blast to provide a firing capacity of 9 600 SmartShot detonators via an RF link.

  • The RF Repeater
    SmartShot-RFRepeater

When the line of sight (LOS) between the SmartShot Base Station and SmartShot Bench Boxes  are restricted, repeaters can be used to refresh  the signals and bounce the signal to the SmartShot Bench boxes.

  • The SmartShot Base Station

    SmartShot-Base-Station

The SmartShot Base Station, placed at a point of safety and used in conjunction with the SmartShot Smart Key, allows for safe initiation of the blast. The Base Station links to the Bench Box (maximum of four) via secure radio frequency (RF) or via a simple two-wire link. For security purposes this unit will require a unique password to activate the blasting procedures.

  • The SmartShot Smart Key
    SmartShot-Smart-Keys

The SmartShot Smart Key must be docked into the Base Station for the blast to be armed and fired. The Smart Key houses the physical link to connect the blast energy and passes the encoded signal to all connected detonators. For security purposes the SmartShot Smart Key is password protected.
